    ¿Influyen las nuevas leyes en salud en la práctica formativa de los posgrados médicos?

    Este artículo presenta una revisión de la legislación colombiana en materia de las leyes en salud y su influencia en la educación médica superior. Especialmente, centra su atención en analizar el decreto 2376 de 2010 y la Ley 1438 de 2011, que modificaron la actividad médica de los estudiantes de posgrados médicos. Para observar los efectos de estas normas, se realizó una encuesta a médicos residentes de los posgrados médicos de la Universidad Militar Nueva Granada. La investigación establece que una de las consecuencias de la legislación es el síndrome de Burnout en los especialistas en formación, dado que están aprovechando el tiempo libre para trabajar como médicos hospitalarios en instituciones de salud particulares sobrecargándose de trabajo.This article presents a review of Colombian legislation in the field of laws on health and its influence on higher medical education. It especially focuses on analyzing the Decree 2376 of 2010 and the Law 1438 of 2011, which changed the medical activity of medical postgraduate students. To observe the effects of these rules, a survey was conducted at resident doctors in the medical postgraduates of Universidad Militar Nueva Granada.     Adapting Agriculture to Climate Change: A Synopsis of Coordinated National Crop Wild Relative Seed Collecting Programs across Five Continents

    The Adapting Agriculture to Climate Change Project set out to improve the diversity, quantity, and accessibility of germplasm collections of crop wild relatives (CWR). Between 2013 and 2018, partners in 25 countries, heirs to the globetrotting legacy of Nikolai Vavilov, undertook seed collecting expeditions targeting CWR of 28 crops of global significance for agriculture. Here, we describe the implementation of the 25 national collecting programs and present the key results. A total of 4587 unique seed samples from at least 355 CWR taxa were collected, conserved ex situ, safety duplicated in national and international genebanks, and made available through the Multilateral System (MLS) of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (Plant Treaty). Collections of CWR were made for all 28 targeted crops. Potato and eggplant were the most collected genepools, although the greatest number of primary genepool collections were made for rice. Overall, alfalfa, Bambara groundnut, grass pea and wheat were the genepools for which targets were best achieved.     <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p><it>Trypanosoma cruzi,</it> the etiological agent of Chagas’ disease<it>,</it> is an obligate intracellular parasite which induces a CD8<sup>+</sup> T cell immune response with secretion of cytokines and release of cytotoxic granules. Although an immune-suppressive effect of <it>T. cruzi</it> on the acute phase of the disease has been described, little is known about the capacity of CD8<sup>+</sup> T cell from chronic chagasic patients to respond to a non-<it>T. cruzi</it> microbial antigen.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>In the present paper, the frequency, phenotype and the functional activity of the CD8<sup>+</sup> T cells specific from Flu-MP*, an influenza virus epitope, were determined in 13 chagasic patients and 5 healthy donors.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The results show that Flu-MP* peptide specific CD8<sup>+</sup> T cells were found with similar frequencies in both groups. In addition, Flu-MP* specific CD8<sup>+</sup> T cells were distributed in the early or intermediate/late differentiation stages without showing enrichment of a specific sub-population. The mentioned Flu-MP* specific CD8<sup>+</sup> T cells from chagasic patients were predominately T<sub>EM</sub> (CCR7- CD62L-), producing IL-2, IFNγ, CD107a/b and perforin, and did not present significant differences when compared with those from healthy donors.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Our results support the hypothesis that there is no CD8<sup>+</sup> T cell nonspecific immune-suppression during chronic Chagas disease infection. Nonetheless, other viral antigens must be studied in order to confirm our findings.</p

    A Coffee Berry Borer (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae) Bibliography

    Native to Africa, the coffee berry borer, Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae), has gradually invaded most coffee-growing areas worldwide. Adult females colonize the coffee berry and oviposit within galleries in the coffee seeds. Larvae and adults consume the seeds, resulting in drastic reductions in yields and quality, negatively affecting the income of approximately 20 million coffee-growing families (~100 million people) in ~80 countries, with losses surpassing more than $500 million annually (Vega et al. 2015). It has become evident that the coffee berry borer scientific community could greatly benefit from having access to a bibliography of the literature related to the insect. Such an information source would allow scientists to find out what research areas have been explored throughout the many coffee berry borer-infested countries after more than 100 years of research on the topic. It could also help to direct lead future research efforts into novel areas, and away from topics and ideas that have been thoroughly investigated in the past
